Man arrested on campus for allegedly stealing from academic building offices

Metropolitan Police officers arrested a man Tuesday for allegedly breaking into and stealing from building offices.

A staffer in the School of Media and Public Affairs reported Maurice Smith for trying to enter “various locked offices,” University spokeswoman Michelle Sherrard said.

UPD officers detained Smith – who was already on probation for a previous crime – in University Yard, where Sherrard said he was found with a stolen credit card and cash taken from an office in the GW Law School.
