The National Book Festival will move off the National Mall and into D.C.’s convention center this fall.

The Washington Post reported that the National Park Service sounded the alarm that the festival’s high foot traffic caused damage to the Mall’s already beat-up landscape. The two-day event, which draws star authors, will now take place in the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Festival organizers are planning to take advantage of the new location by adding new pavilions, cooking stations and adding after-dark hours. The festival will be pushed up to Aug. 30 and shortened to one day.
