With partisan debate surrounding A&E’s decision to suspend infamous Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson from the show, School of Media and Public Affairs director Frank Sesno called Robertson’s anti-gay slurs unacceptable.

“What [Robertson] said is amazing,” Sesno said in an interview with WUSA-9. “And if I were an A&E executive I would say… white hot. This is not acceptable.”

Robertson, the patriarch of an empire that sources its income from selling literal and actual duck calls from Louisiana cedar trees, came under fire after a recent story with GQ.

Robertson’s comments have catalyzed a firestorm of conversation over censorship and individual liberty to speak freely under the first amendment.

Sesno, who worked at CNN for 18 years 18-years, is going on sabbatical next semester to write a book on the “art of interviewing.”
