Venture to Landmark E Street at 555 11th St., N.W., to catch part of the DC Shorts Film Festival. With shows throughout the day on Friday and Saturday, you have multiple opportunities to catch the best of brevity in cinema, as each screening brings you around 10 of the 94 films that make up the festival this year. Tickets are $9.50 online and $12 at the door. If they’re sold out, don’t worry. Just arrive early, as a limited number of tickets will be released about 20 minutes before each show.

Head to that hotbed of underground music at 1811 14th St., N.W., and take in “The Rolling Rock and Roll Show” at the Black Cat on Sunday. The event is a showcase of garage rockers old and young. You can check out the Mooney Suzuki audition for consideration in future editions of “Nuggets,” but the real draw here is the Zombies, straight out of 1964 and into your heart with killer pop songs. Who knew that when they sang “This Will Be Our Year,” they were talking about 2006?
