Weekend Outlook: Jousting, pho and mini golf

Jousting. Photo courtesy of Maryland Renaissance Fair.

If you have time between Bed Bath and Beyond runs and unpacking boxes, celebrate your D.C. homecoming at these fun events.

— Journey back to the middle ages at the Maryland Renaissance Fair. Experience authentic period activities like knife throwing, jousting, and men parading around in tights.
Maryland Renaissance Fair Grounds, weekends from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Aug. 24 – Oct. 20, 2013

— In case you didn’t know, D.C. has one of the largest Vietnamese expat communities in the country. Every year, the community is celebrated in an epic gathering of Vietnamese food: Vietfest. Head to Alexandria Mall Saturday and Sunday, and learn how to properly pronounce pho.

— Checkout the professionally designed mini golf course at the National Building Museum this weekend. The courses are open during museum hours but make sure to plan a visit in conjunction with one of the Hill Country barbecues the museum hosts every weekend.
