Jack White (U2 cover)
“Love is Blindness” is a work privileged to be crooned by two of the most famous rock stars in our modern age. Naturally, Jack White layers heady electronic guitar, dense percussion and haunting vocals to the U2 cover in his own twist. The result is a piece that echoes soulful rock while howling out dark sentiments of love. White’s lyrics are layered with the conviction inherent in his signature, passionate voice. This song isn’t exactly one to mellow and listen to while studying, but it is one that you could listen to on a walk to class, car ride or when trying to add artistic flavor to those metro excursions.
Icona Pop
Icona Pop revs up a dance beat with no hesitation, boldly jumping into their first high-energy single, “I Love It.” Electronic, high-to-low compositions drive the track into a vibrant chorus that is irresistibly catchy and undeniably fun. The song was released as a prelude to their first full-fledged album “Manners,” which debuted in August. Although it was publicized as a summer hit, “I Love It” is ideal to work out with, blast at parties or to simply get some adrenaline flowing and pump up any monotonous day.
Aer
Aer’s newest album “The Bright Side” has a no-worry, dog-day feel that is epitomized in the single “Floats My Boat.” Aer’s rap vocals blend with a simple, jumpy beat to spawn a jam that can shed sunshine on any bad day. The tune tosses around Shwayze-esque lyrics that encourages the listener to ultimately savor his or her life and do whatever motivates happiness. This relaxed message is appropriately paired with summer sounds that make it an easy and joyful listen.
