Music fanatics: Your concert budget just escaped a heavy blow.
The annual Virgin Mobile FreeFest music festival will return Oct. 6 to Columbia, Md. and will feature an all-star line-up as well as, living up to its name, free admission.
Electronic music maestro Skrillex and alternative rocker Jack White are among the festival’s headliners, with rapper Nas and classic rockers ZZ Top also making appearances on Merriweather Post Pavilion’s two main stages. The outdoor, all-age-friendly event even features a spacious “dance forest” notorious for attracting dance-happy festival attendees.
In lieu of ticket profits, organizers ask that festival-goers donate money to The RE*Generation, a national project spearheaded by Virgin Mobile to address and combat youth homelessness nationwide.
FreeFest general admission tickets go on sale Aug. 24 at 10 a.m., but music enthusiasts can follow Virgin Mobile on Twitter to beat the internet ticket rush and access the Aug. 23 pre-sale. Boasting this year a diverse line-up of 21 artists including M83 to Das Racist, the festival has historically sold out in minutes.
Past FreeFest headliners have included The Black Keys, LCD Soundsystem and Deadmau5.
