We didn’t have room on our page today for all of the Colonial activity over the weekend. Here’s a look at how some of the teams fared:
Men’s rowing
The men’s crew rowed to a 24th place finish, of 28 rowing teams, at the Head of the Charles Regatta over the weekend.
GW completed the three-mile course in 15:53.81, competing against defending regatta champions Harvard, who won the event again Sunday, and 2012 IRA finalists Washington, Brown and Boston University.
Men’s water polo
The Colonials split their contests this weekend, defeating Iona 10-6 before falling to Princeton 13-6.
The game against Iona was tied at 4 at the half, and each team scored a goal after the break. But graduate student Milos Purkovic netted a score with 4:27 to go in the third, giving GW a lead it would not relinquish. Purkovic, sophomore Ridvan Pehlivan and junior Nate Little paced the Colonials with two goals apiece, and freshman keeper Connor Dillon recorded nine saves in his first career start.
After the first quarter against Princeton, the game was tied at two, but by halftime, the Tigers had a 5-2 lead. Princeton pulled away in the second half and outscored GW 8-4 over the final 16 minutes to earn the win. Freshman Bodgan Petkovic netted three goals on the game to lead GW, and senior goalkeeper Cameron Illes had seven stops in the cage.
The men’s golf, men’s tennis and women’s tennis team all competed in weekend events that will continue through the early days of this week.
