Heads bobbed along to the danceable sounds of Reptar and Redline Graffiti at a sold out concert held at the Sixth & I Synagogue.

WRGW presented the show on Saturday, marking the first time the student group has worked with the venue.

“We ultimately came down to the Sixth & I Synagogue because it’s right downtown,” senior and general manager Jorge Gadala-Maria said.

He added that the Student Association, as well as WRGW’s own promotions and marketing department, were instrumental in orchestrating the concert.

“All the pieces just fell together and we couldn’t be happier in the way that it turned out,” Gadala-Maria said.

Reptar has been widely recognized as an up-and-coming band in the indie music world, touring with Foster the People and playing at both Lollapalooza and South by Southwest.

Ralph Ogundiran, WRGW assistant station manager, said Reptar “shamelessly brought the pop that was the night’s basement party-like atmosphere.”

Low ceilings, red lighting and a smaller basement location created an intimate concert experience. Fans enthusiastically applauded after every song and one excited attendee even crowd surfed during the main act.

“It got hot, we danced, and above all left wanting to do it all over again,” Ogundiran said.

Ogundiran said WRGW is looking forward to continuing the station’s “newest tradition of curating shows and concerts that best represent the station.”

The Hatchet misidentified Jorge Gadala-Maria as the station manager, he is the general manager. The Hatchet also incorrectly identified the artist in the photo caption as Ryan Engelberger.
