Friends to celebrate life of slain alumna Friday

Friends of an alumna killed over the weekend will hold an event in Dupont this Friday to celebrate her life.

Jayna T. Murray, 30, was sexually assaulted and beaten to death March 11 at the Lululemon Athletica store in Bethesda, Md. where she worked.

Police are continuing to search for two masked men who attacked Murray and her coworker, a 27-year-old woman who was also sexually assaulted, after the two women returned to the store Friday evening to retrieve belongings.

Kara Sokol, a friend and classmate of Murray’s at Johns Hopkins University, said “A Celebration of Life for Jayna Murray” will be held March 18 at James Hoban’s Irish Restaurant and Bar in Dupont Circle at 6 p.m.

“Please feel free to stop by even if you only knew Jayna for a short while. We will be celebrating the life of this wonderful young woman,” event information reads.

James Hoban’s is located at 1 Dupont Circle NW, Washington, D.C. 20036-1110.

A Facebook page in memory of Murray also includes information on the event.
