A MetroBus crashed into a car at the intersection of 23rd and H streets Tuesday morning.
D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services Public Information Officer Vito Maggiolo said FEMS dispatched one ambulance to the intersection at 9:35 a.m. to transport one person to a hospital. The bus remained lodged against the car when FEMS, GW Police Department officers and a Metropolitan Police Department officer arrived at the scene.
The MetroBus smashed in the driver’s side of the car and shattered its windows, and the bus endured cracks to its windshield. A FEMS spokesperson could not provide an update on the condition of the person transported to a hospital.
The intersection remained open to traffic, with three GWPD officers directing cars around the accident. GWPD stationed cars at the corner of 24th and H streets, 23rd and H streets and 23rd Street, MPD parked one car on 23rd Street and at least three people who identified themselves as Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority supervisors parked two “Metro” cars on H Street.
At 11:37 a.m. a tow truck arrived on scene and began loading the car onto its bed.
