GW Facilities responded to a broken emergency fire sprinkler pipe in the Science and Engineering Hall parking garage Friday night.
A GW Environmental Health and Safety officer said Facilities responded to the incident after the building’s fire alarm was set off when a moving truck clipped the pipe, causing the pipe to break and water to rush into the parking garage. A GW Alert was sent out at about 8:30 p.m. telling community members to avoid the area for urgent fire activity.
The officer said the building remains open but the parking garage is closed until the water drains from the pipe and a contractor is able to repair the sprinkler.
