The Student Association Senate unanimously voted Tuesday to add two positions to the executive cabinet.

The Executive Cabinet Creation Act replaces the secretary of dining position with the secretary of facilities, who will oversee dining, transportation and housing, and adds a secretary of health role, who will liaise with the Student Health Center and University administration to ensure students are satisfied with health care they receive. SA President Arielle Geismar, who sponsored the bill, said in her former role as Residence Hall Association president, she saw the value of “administratively” acknowledging facilities work.

“The goal of that is just to create some more cohesion and make that just all one functional unit,” she said.

Geismar said in her report she is prepared to confirm members of her staff in the next senate meeting.

SA Vice President Demetrius Apostolis said he met with University administration to re-implement a dining focus group for the upcoming academic year. He said he and SA Sen. Emmy Ly, GWSB-U, met with officials to expand kosher options in the dining halls.

Apostolis said after meeting with a student about potentially expanding U-Pass to continue over the summer, he plans to meet with officials to discuss the option. He said the Career Exploration EXPO, a career fair which he launched last year, will return in the third week of February 2024.

“This is an exciting opportunity for our students to explore their career options and connect with potential employers, and I’m so excited to bring this event to you for another year,” Apostolis said.

Apostolis said the event will occur over two weeks and will include panels, a keynote speaker, resume workshops and a fair with more than 100 employers. He said senate staff will provide administrative support for the event.
