The University is actively searching for the culprit behind a phony e-mail sent to students Monday, informing them that classes in Duques and Funger halls were canceled.
University spokeswoman Michelle Sherrard said the Information Security Office is investigating the origin of the e-mail, but has not yet discovered the identity of the sender.
University officials posted a Campus Advisory Monday warning students that a phony e-mail regarding class cancellations in Duques and Funger halls was not sent by GW officials, and that classes were taking place as scheduled. Classes were not affected by the fake e-mail, the advisory said.
Sherrard said the message was sent from an e-mail similar to GW’s infomail address, [email protected]. The false email was sent from [email protected].
