As we reported last week, women’s basketball coach Joe McKeown will be an assistant coach for the USA’s U-18 team at the FIBA Americas Championships for Women this summer in Argentina. Today, an athletic department release announced McKeown would be assisting Northern Illinois coach Carol Owens. Also assisting Owens is Marquette’s Terri Mitchell.

McKeown previously worked with USA Basketball in 1992, the release said. Last summer men’s coach Karl Hobbs assisted the USA’s U-19 men’s team in Serbia.

Today’s release comes the day of McKeown’s 52nd birthday — happy birthday to coach.
