An unknown subject robbed a 7-Eleven near the GW Hospital Tuesday, fleeing before Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived at the scene, MPD spokesperson Hugh Carew said.
Carew said the suspect stole money from the cash register at the store located on New Hampshire Avenue, and officers received a call about the incident at around 2:20 p.m. University officials issued a GW alert notifying the community about the crime around 3 p.m.
“POLICE ACTIVITY Robbery of Establishment,” the alert states. “MPD investigation in the 900 block of NEW HAMPSHIRE AVE NW. Avoid the area.”
The University issued a second alert at 3:46 p.m., announcing that the site of the crime had been cleared.
