A portion of Adams Morgan will close to traffic this weekend to allow expanded outside seating.
Mayor Muriel Bowser announced plans to modify traffic and pedestrian laws late last month to create “streateries,” a new vision for outdoor dining during the pandemic as D.C. entered phase one of reopening. The AdMo shutdown will tentatively apply to 18th Street NW between Columbia and Kalorama roads from about 3 p.m. to midnight Friday and 8 a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday, Washingtonian reported Tuesday.
A single southbound lane on 18th Street NW from Belmont Road to Kalorama Road will allow cars turning onto 18th Street NW from Belmont Road to exit the area, according to Washingtonian.
Restaurants must apply to use sidewalk space, alleys, parking and travel lanes for table seating. Vendors may also offer indoor dining at half-capacity under phase two of D.C.’s reopening plan, which went into effect Monday.
