More than 40 student organizations have penned statements denouncing police brutality in support of protests occurring nationwide.

Student groups posted public letters on social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pledging their solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and condemning the use of police brutality against black Americans. Their statements follow nationwide outrage over the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, two black Americans killed in interactions with police in recent months.

The posts urge members to support the demonstrations that have now unfolded in about 40 cities, and more than five groups ask that students donate to causes like legal bailout funds for arrested protesters. Several statements also encourage students to take advantage of educational resources like books for those in positions of privilege to read and learn about issues affecting the black community.
