Mayor Muriel Bowser launched a new hotline Monday for homebound D.C. residents to request food and other essential items.

The hotline, which can be accessed online or by calling (888) 349-8323, is available to residents who have been directed by a medical provider to self-quarantine or have no other means to acquire necessary goods, according to the D.C. government’s website. Almost 2,000 people in the District have tested positive for COVID-19, and Bowser issued a stay-at-home order on March 30 to curb the spread of the virus.

“By staying home, we will save lives,” Bowser said in a tweet Friday.

Bowser declared a state of emergency and public health emergency in the District on March 11 as cases began to rise.
