Where to get brunch this Labor Day weekend

The Boqueria Tapas Bar and Restaurant in Dupont Circle is extending is Saturday brunch to three days this Labor Day weekend.

Labor Day means a long weekend – and a long weekend means more brunch opportunities. During the first long weekend of the semester, celebrate the extra day off with a mid-day meal at one of these restaurants around the District.

Ambar

This Balkan restaurant in Capitol Hill offers a bottomless brunch for $39 a head. Get a group of friends together to enjoy an endless selection of plates and drinks. The menu is broken down into five different sections: Starters, eggs, sandwiches and sliders, pastries and crepes and sweets.

Drawing flavors from southeastern Europe, starter plates include everything from a mezze platter with cornbread, cold cuts and cheese to potato hash. You can choose from a selection of benedicts and omelettes for your eggs and savory crepes and cheese or meat pies from the pastries and crepes section. For something heavier, Ambar serves veal and beef burgers or fried chicken sandwiches. You can wash your bottomless meal down with a choice of traditional, peach, mix berry or mango mimosas or bloody marys.

Boqueria

This Spanish-style tapas restaurant in Dupont Circle is extending its Saturday brunch to three days this weekend. Boqueria’s bottomless brunch feast is $42 per person and features a selection of classic tapas dishes and drinks.

Some stand out tapas dishes include the escalivada fire-roasted eggplant; the patatas bravas featuring crispy potatoes, salsa brava and garlic aioli; and the torrija, a Spanish caramelized french toast. Unlimited drinks include mimosas, red and white sangria, Spanish beer and leche de pantera, which is made with vodka, coffee and condensed milk.

Boqueria, 1837 M St. NW, Saturday and Sunday opens at 10:30 a.m., Monday opens at 11:30 a.m., $42.

Brookland’s Finest Bar & Kitchen

Located at the corner of 12th and Jackson, Brookland’s Finest dishes out American cuisine like biscuits and gravy ($8.50) and a country breakfast ($13) with two eggs, sausage or bacon, toast or potato hash and fresh fruit.

Other standouts from its brunch menu include a seasonal quiche ($14) served with potato hash and mixed greens, blueberry and ricotta waffles ($15) and a veggie breakfast burrito ($13). To finish off your brunch, check out the dessert menu for items like beignets ($6) and fruit cobbler ($8). The restaurant also whips up funky and classic cocktails like Irish coffee ($12), peach bellini ($10) and funky monkeys ($8) – a combination of beer and orange juice.

Brookland’s Finest Bar & Kitchen, 3126 12th St. NE, Monday opens at 11 a.m.

Tico

The 14th Street Mexican restaurant will serve its brunch menu Monday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Unlimited food and drink is $39 per person, but if you are under the age of 21, unlimited food is $29.

Dishes include loaded nachos, corn bread, french toast churros and a selection of tacos including smoked salmon tacos, bacon, egg and cheese tacos, spicy pork tacos and fried chicken tacos. You can also get a classic American breakfast for $14 that includes two eggs, bacon and potatoes. Bottomless drinks include classic, pineapple and cranberry mimosas, margaritas, spicy bloody marys, peach bellinis and sangria.
