Men’s tennis head coach Rob Castille selected Rob Mitchell as the graduate assistant for the 2019-20 season, according to a release Monday.
Mitchell graduated from Lipscomb University in 2017 and played No. 1 for the Bisons during all four years of his tenure, according to the release. He was the first player at Lipscomb to be ranked nationally in singles, jumping as high as No. 110.
“He played at a very high level at Lipscomb University and has a strong knowledge of the game,” Castille said in the release. “I’m confident he will fit in well with the guys and will help us reach our goals both on and off the court.”
Mitchell served as the vice captain of the Lipscomb team during his junior year and captained the Bisons in his senior campaign, the release states. In his final season, Mitchell ushered his team to its first Atlantic Sun Conference final in program history.
Mitchell raked in multiple postseason accolades during his time at Lipscomb, earning two All-Academic Team and three First Team All-Conference nods in the ASUN.
At GW, he will pursue a master’s degree in finance, according to the release.
