Students will get not one, but two Spring Fling events this year.

Program Board announced in a video on social media Tuesday night it will host a “Pre-Fling” in University Yard featuring student performances on April 12 in addition to the organization’s annual spring concert on April 27.

The organization is calling on student singers, bands and dance groups to submit audition tapes, music samples or recordings for a chance to take the stage at Pre-Fling. The audition deadline is March 11.

In addition to student performances, Pre-Fling will have food trucks, lawn games and an interactive art installation, according to the video. At the end of Pre-Fling, Program Board will announce the performer for “the biggest Spring Fling in the history of GW,” Charlotte Lewis, the group’s director of events, said in the video.

Lil Yachty and Lil Pump were set to perform at Spring Fling last year, but Program Board announced during the event that Lil Pump pulled out of the performance and Lil Yachty took the stage alone.

Past Spring Fling performers include local rapper Goldlink, Sage the Gemini and Matoma.

Students indicated during last year’s Student Association elections that they would rather see the group put on fewer events of higher stature.

The organization nixed its free fall concert this academic year for the first time in more than 15 years. Program Board instead hosted comedian Hasan Minhaj for a ticketed performance in the Smith Center.
