Brianna Barry will join volleyball as an assistant coach for the 2019 season, according to an athletic department release Thursday.
Barry most recently worked as the head coach at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, a Division II program, from 2014 to 2018. Barry will serve alongside fellow assistant coach Nicki Holmes and replace former assistant coach Nicole Cervantes.
Under her leadership, the program went 61-94 overall and made its first Great American Conference Volleyball Tournament finals appearance during the 2016 season. Barry was a graduate assistant during the 2013 season before being promoted to the helm.
Prior to moving into coaching, Barry was a four-year starter at Florida State and was selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year, a second team All-American and ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2009. Barry earned her degree in sports management from Florida State in 2009.
After graduating, Barry went on to play professionally in Europe, spending three years with the Swiss program, Volleyball Franches-Montagnes.
