Rachel Maisler, the chair of the D.C. Bicycle Advisory Council, reflected on the high number of traffic fatalities last year, saying traffic accidents are preventable and bicyclists should be safe on D.C. streets.
There were 36 total traffic deaths in D.C. last year and the number has increased every year since 2015.
