The men’s soccer team announced a five-member recruiting class Tuesday, highlighted by two National Letter of Intent signees.
Midfielder Farhan Kahn and defender Matthew Scott headline the class, which also includes goalkeeper Luke Farrell, midfielder Joe Holleran and defender Stefano Wach.
“Our recruiting class adds depth at every position, a luxury not afforded us last season, especially in defense and at goalkeeper,” head coach George Lidster said. “The incoming class improves the athleticism of the team and it will be pushing the upperclassmen for starting positions during preseason.”
Kahn scored eight goals and 18 points in helping his high school team to a 16-3-2 record and No. 38 ranking in ESPNRise.com Spring 2011 Fab 50 rankings, and was an honorable mention All-Met selection by The Washington Post in helping Langley High to the Virginia Group AAA state quarterfinals in 2011.
Scott, an international student from Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, is English Colleges Football Association Knockout Cup champion, Northumberland County captain and ECFA regional league champion.
After graduating just three seniors in 2011, the Colonials will return 19 letterwinners and 10 starters, looking to build upon last year’s season, when they posted a 3-15-0 record and finished 13th of 14 in the A-10.
