Metropolitan Police Department officers are searching for a suspect who committed second-degree theft at the Statesman Apartments Sunday, according to a police report.

A woman reported to MPD officers that her husband parked their Cadillac Escalade on the 2000 block of F Street at approximately 1 p.m. Sunday. The woman said she left multiple personal items in her purse in the backseat, and when she returned about an hour and a half later, her items had been stolen in an unknown manner.

There were no signs of forced entry, the report states.

The stolen items included the woman’s eyeglasses, black Sony headphones, a white and gold ring with sapphires and diamonds, a gold ring with rubies and diamonds, multiple chargers and a black zipper case – all which were contained in the woman’s Louis Vuitton bag, according to the report.

The GW Police Department later notified the woman that her bag had been found – but when she retrieved her items, she noticed her checkbook was still missing, the report states.

The case is still open.
