GW is a “cool school,” according to the Sierra Club.
Sierra Magazine, a publication of the environmental organization, ranked GW 58th on its annual “Cool Schools” list of the greenest campuses in the country.
162 universities submitted an 11-page survey detailing, among other things, the types of energy used on campus, including coal, wind, solar, and nuclear. Schools were also asked about classes on “clean technologies,” free shuttle services available, and whether bottled water is sold or distributed on campus.
The ranking is an improvement from last year’s Sierra Club survey, when GW ranked 81st.
Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vt. claimed this year’s top spot.
