Mezie Offurum verbally committed to men’s basketball Monday, according to a tweet from his high school basketball team’s Twitter account.
The 6-foot-6-inch forward from Georgetown Prep is now the second 2018 recruit to commit in the past four weeks. He joins guard Shandon Brown, who announced his decision in August.
Congrats to Mezie Offurum who has decided to commit to George Washington University! Thanks @CoachMoJo_GW and the @GW_MBB family! #RaiseHigh

Offurum – a D.C. native – also received offers from Atlantic 10 competitors Rhode Island and Saint Joseph’s. During his junior year, he averaged 10 points and 4 rebounds per game as his team went 20-6 on the season.
The Colonials are set to lose three scholarship players – guard Yuta Watanabe and forwards Patrick Steeves and Bo Ziegler – after this season and will be able to add two more scholarship players – along with Brown and Offurum – to its 2018-19 squad. The fourth spot is open because only 12 of the 15 players on the current roster are under scholarship.
As of now, Offurum would be one of only four GW players on the 2018-19 that are his height or taller.
