About 200 protestors blocked the intersection of 16th and H streets near the White House Tuesday after Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program would be rescinded.
DACA students and supporters protested the termination of the Obama-era policy, which shields undocumented immigrants brought into the country as children – also known as “Dreamers” – from deportation and making them eligible for legal work permits renewable for two-year periods.
Demonstrators at the rally held up signs with phrases like “Education without borders,” and “America is all we know.” Others chanted slogans like “This is what democracy looks like,” and “Fighting for DACA.”
