White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer will be interviewed about U.S. President Donald Trump’s relationship with the news media at a School of Media and Public Affairs forum Monday, according to a University release Friday.

SMPA Director Frank Sesno will interview Spicer about Trump’s battles with the press and the importance of media’s access to the president at an event called “Does Trump Need the News Media? Making and Shaping the News from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue,” according to the release.

Spicer made national headlines Saturday when, on the first full day of Trump’s administration, he delivered a statement lambasting journalists for what he said was inaccurate reporting of the size of the crowd on the National Mall Inauguration Day. Spicer’s inaccurate statements worried news media and quickly drew ridicule on social media.

Spicer’s interview will be followed by a previously announced discussion about covering the White House featuring journalists from CNN, The Wall Street Journal, Reuters and POLITICO, as well as former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer who served during U.S. President George W. Bush’s administration.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Betts Theatre.
