The former solicitor general of the United States will join GW Law School as a full-time faculty member this week.
Gregory Garre will teach classes on constitutional law and the Supreme Court, University spokeswoman Thai Phi Stone said. The solicitor general supervises and conducts litigation on behalf of the government in the United States Supreme Court.
Garre was previously an adjunct law professor at GW and graduated from GW Law School in 1991. He was the editor in chief of the law review while at GW.
Before being appointed to the solicitor general position by former President George W. Bush, Garre clerked for Chief Justice William Rehnquist and worked as an appellate attorney at the law firm Hogan & Hartson.
