If you have $5
Get one more and go to Sixth and I Historic Synagogue at 600 I St., N.W. tonight at 7 p.m. to see Franklin Foer interview Thomas Friedman. Friedman is a New York Times columnist and author, and Foer is the editor of The New Republic and the author of How Soccer Explains the World, so the conversation should be interesting, whether you agree with them or not.
If you have $10
Go to the D.C. Jewish Community Center on Saturday at 8 p.m. to see a screening of classic film “The Goonies,” followed by an evening of pub-quiz-like trivia from the 1980s. It’s got Sean Astin (also known as Sam Gamgee and, more importantly, also known as Rudy) and Corey Feldman (also known as, well, Corey Feldman), so you really can’t miss here.
If you have $20
Borrow $5 more and head to 9:30 Club (if you’re 21) on Saturday at 11 p.m. to see Clipse. The hip-hoppers made “Lord Willin'” in 2001, and were stuck in label purgatory until 2006’s release of “Hell Hath No Fury.” Reap the benefits of destroyed red tape and ignore the fact that, um, they rap about cocaine a lot. Drugs are bad, kids, but these rhymes are great.
