Posted 1:09 p.m. Feb. 6: The GW Board of Trustees approved a 5 percent tuition hike for continuing students Friday and gave the go ahead for the University’s fixed-pricing plan for incoming students.
Juniors and seniors will have to write a check to GW for $30,530 while sophomores will be charged $30,820 for tuition and fees. The Board is still determining the cost of housing and food requirements. Last year, food and room costs added about $10,000 to the bill.
But incoming students will be the first class to face a fixed tuition price of $34,000. Though the figure shows a 16 percent increase from current tuition, the price will remain fixed for all four years the class of 2008 attends GW. The figure also does not take housing and food into account.
The fixed tuition will not affect current students and the University plans on instituting the fixed price progressively as each new class enrolls.
