A female student alleged she was sexually assaulted in JBKO Hall Oct. 30, a University Police official said.
The attack, which was committed by a male visiting one of his male friends in JBKO, occurred between 5 and 6 a.m., UPD Director Dolores Stafford said. The person was let in by a friend who lives there, she said.
Stafford said the women who reported the incident did not know her attacker but knew the man’s friend, who also lived in JBKO Hall.
UPD said she launched an investigation into the incident.
Our sexual assault team member on call talked with her about her options, and she decided to contact (the Metropolitan Police Department), Stafford said.
UPD maintains a 24-hour Sexual Assault Crisis Consultation Team to give victims information about their rights.
Stafford said an arrest could not be made because the student did not file a report with MPD.
(The victim’s decision) may change, but as of now she has not chosen to (file a report), said Stafford, who added that the victim has awhile to change her decision.
Stafford said several sexual assaults were reported this year and, on average, about 3 incidents are reported to UPD a year.
