A former student was arrested Friday for placing a hidden camera in a residence hall restroom, following a University Police Department investigation.
Officers confronted the suspect, Taek Hee Lee, in mid-March for installing the camera in Amsterdam Hall, UPD Chief Kevin Hay said.
“He admitted to placing the camera when confronted by GWPD investigators,” Hay said, adding that the department obtained an arrest warrant stemming from the voyeurism case and that Lee is “currently in custody.”
He declined to comment on Lee’s age, how many years he spent at GW, when the department received an arrest warrant, the exact location of the arrest and how investigators identified Lee.
“This is an on-going investigation so we will not divulge anything additional at this time,” Hay said.
