President Jimmy Carter, who was scheduled to speak at GW Wednesday, was hospitalized in Ohio Tuesday afternoon, according to a report by CNN.
Jackie Mayo, the public information officer for Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, told CNN “the 39th president was transferred to the hospital at approximately 11:30am ET after paramedics met Carter’s plane upon its arrival.”
There are few details as to why Carter was hospitalized and it is unknown if hisĀ book reading at GW will take place as planned. A spokeswoman from the Smithsonian Associates said she is unsure if Carter will be able to attend the reading. The Smithsonian Associates, not GW, are the sponsors of the event. A spokesperson from GW directed questions to the Smithsonian Associates.
Carter is slated to read from his memoir, “White House Diary” in Lisner Auditorium.
