Former head fundraiser heads to Stanford University

The University’s former head fundraiser was recently named Stanford University’s associate vice president for medical development and alumni affairs, the San Jose Business Journal announced this week.

Laurel Price Jones, GW’s former vice president for development and alumni relations, resigned from her position at GW in August. She will now help lead Stanford University’s fundraising efforts.

Stanford is the top fundraiser in the field of higher education, according to the Chronicle of Philanthropy’s Philanthropy 400, an annual ranking of the top 400 fundraisers in the nonprofit field.

Stanford raised more than $785 million in 2008, ranking it no. 12 on the Chronicle’s list. GW raised about $58 million during the same time frame.

Price Jones’ position has yet to be filled at GW. Currently, John Kudless is serving in the position for the interim, until a new vice president is named.
