The film “State of Play” began shooting in Foggy Bottom today and the crew will be using the Hall on Virginia Avenue for several aerial shots during spring break. University Spokesperson Tracy Schario said the production company requested to use the roof of the building to film a scene in front of the Watergate.
The Internet Movie Database describes the plot of the film as “investigative reporters work alongside a police detective to try to solve the murder of a congressman’s mistress.” It stars Ben Affleck, Jason Bateman, Helen Mirren, Russell Crowe, and Rachel Mcadams.
They filmed a scene on 19th and E streets this morning, and will be filming on Pennsylvania Avenue tommorow.
Schario said the production company expressed interest this summer in using several University buildings — including the hospital — for aerial shots. She added she was unsure of the exact dates when they would be filming in HOVA.
