Juniors Lamar Thorpe and Josh Lasky won the Student Association President and Executive Vice Presidential races respectively Thursday night.
By an almost 200 vote margin Thorpe defeated junior Morgan Corr for the SA’s top post. Lasky beat sophomore EVP candidate Angela Chang for the position of chair of the SA Senate. After last week’s general election Thorpe and Laksy announced they would be running together.
“I feel great,” said Thorpe whose family present for the announcement, which took place around 10:30 on the fourth floor of the Marvin Center.
“What a great birthday present, thank you GW,” said Thorpe, who turned 25 years old on Thursday.
Corr, who received 816 votes compared to Thorpe’s 1002, was visibly distraught after the announcement and quickly consoled with his Real GW campaign team.
“Their will be time for speeches later,” said Corr. “We ran the best we could, I could not be happier of the team we put together.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” Corr said to his slate, which dominated last week’s general election by claiming 11 seats in the SA Senate.
“Let’s just make sure we still get done what we ran on, and I’ll be right there to help you out,” Corr said.
