After competing in just her second career meet, freshman Hannah Schaefer is the season’s first Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week.

Schaefer was a key piece of the Colonials’ commanding victory in a tri-meet against American and Catholic over the weekend, where GW won 12 of 13 events. The freshman nabbed victories in the 100 back and 200 back, finished second in the 200-yard individual medley and third in the 200-yard freestyle.

Schaefer next returns to the pool when the Colonials host UMBC Oct. 27.
