Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem was transported to GW Hospital Tuesday evening in an “abundance of caution” after an allergic reaction and is “alert and recovering,” a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said.
“Secretary Noem had an allergic reaction today,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. “She was transported to the hospital out of an abundance of caution. She is alert and recovering.”
A GW Hospital spokesperson did not immediately return a request for comment.
In March 2023, Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky, was transported to GW Hospital with a concussion after tripping and falling at a fundraiser dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. GW Hospital also treated Sen. John Fetterman, D-PA, after he experienced lightheadedness in February 2023 following a stroke the year prior.
