The Society of Professional Journalists recognized The Hatchet as the best all-around student newspaper at a large school in its 2024 regional student journalism awards on Tuesday.
The Hatchet won best photo essay, data visualization and all-around student newspaper at a large school for SPJ’s Region 2, which includes D.C., Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and Delaware. The Hatchet will now advance to the national competition, with SPJ set to announce the winners in late spring.
The Hatchet won SPJ 2024 Mark of Excellence Awards in the following categories:
