GW will close all University campuses and centers on Tuesday in anticipation of the District’s second significant snowfall of the year.
Officials encouraged faculty to hold classes virtually and staff to work from home in a GW Alert sent to community members Monday night, hours after the National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning for the area from 10 a.m. Tuesday through 7 a.m. Wednesday. The University’s decision to close all campuses and centers aligns with meteorologists’ forecasts predicting between three and six inches of snow in the area, and District officials’ subsequent decision to close schools and federal offices for all or part of Tuesday.
The University is permitting only essential on-site staff to work on campus, and the Medical Faculty Associates and GW Hospital will remain open, according to the GW Alert. The alert directed community members to the GW Dining Instagram for information on campus dining options, but personnel had not updated the page as of Tuesday night.
Officials will issue campus advisories for updates on Mount Vernon Express operating schedules and additional changes to University operations, per the alert.
Officials closed all campuses and centers for the District’s first snowstorm of the year on Jan. 6, the first day of the spring semester for GW Law students and some School of Medicine and Health Sciences students.
