D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services put out a fire in a fifth floor apartment at Columbia Plaza Apartments Monday night.
FEMS Public Information Officer Vito Maggiolo said approximately a dozen fire units and about 60 FEMS personnel were dispatched to the scene at 11:27 p.m. He said FEMS is currently in the process of removing smoke from the building and that investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
Approximately 50 residents were evacuated and reentered the building at about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday. Maggiolo said there were no injuries.
