D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to a report of a vehicle fire in the Science and Engineering Hall parking garage Wednesday morning.
FEMS Public Information Officer Vito Maggiolo said FEMS dispatched eight fire units to 22nd and H Streets, but the car was no longer on fire when emergency responders arrived. The units dispersed at around 10:45 a.m. after confirming there was no longer a fire in the parking garage.
A GW Police Department officer said the department and GW Environmental Health and Safety staff dispatched personnel to the scene, but could not confirm whether University staff put out the fire.
University officials issued a GW Alert for for “urgent” fire department activity at 10:18 a.m., and asked community members to avoid the area. Officials lifted the alert at 10:57 a.m.
