District officials closed Panera Bread in the University Student Center “until further notice” Tuesday.

DC Health shut down Panera on the first floor of the student center due to an expired license, according to a notice posted outside the restaurant dated Tuesday. The license expired Dec. 31 and was issued Jan. 1, 2022, according to Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs records.

Panera Bread did not immediately return a request for comment.

Officials reopened Panera in October after its closure in May for summer renovations on the first floor of the student center. Panera first opened in the center in January 2018 after a yearlong renovation of the first floor and the discontinuation of the student center’s former J Street dining hall in 2016.
