Chick-fil-A will open in Mitchell Hall next fall, according to an email sent to students Wednesday.
Students will be able to use dining dollars at the location once it opens, according to the email. Construction should start over the summer, with a planned opening in early fall, according to minutes from a community meeting earlier this month.
Officials did not specify where in Mitchell Hall they will place the fast food eatery.
Chick-fil-A previously operated inside the District House basement when the dining facility hosted private vendors that accepted GWorld. Officials announced in August 2021 that they would shut down the vendors but said they planned to relocate the Chick-fil-A to the University Student Center. This fall, officials added two University-run vendors — Chaat House and Absurd Bird.
Associate Vice President of Business Services Seth Weinshel said in June 2022 there were “mechanical challenges” with Chick-fil-A’s planned location within the student center.
Chick-fil-A first arrived at GW in the late 1990s, according to a 2002 graduate.

The Hatchet incorrectly reported that Chick-fil-A opened at GW in 2006. It opened in the late 1990s. We regret this error.
