D.C. Fire and Emergency Services responded to a gas leak near the Foggy Bottom Metro station Friday.

FEMS spokesperson Vito Maggiolo said they dispatched nine personnel around 4:57 p.m. He said he did not know why the leak began.

Maggiolo said they received reports of a smell near the area, and the gas was from Washington Gas.

Fiona Riley contributed reporting.
