Two people were hospitalized Wednesday with non-life-threatening injuries after the driver of a commercial truck collided with a taxi at the corner of 20th and E streets.
DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Vito Maggiolo said first responders were dispatched to the scene at about 11:05 a.m. First responders placed the taxi’s male driver and a female taxi passenger onto stretchers and into ambulances, transporting them to the hospital.
First responders did not transport the commercial truck driver to the hospital.
First responders from special use Rescue Squad 4 used machinery to cut the driver’s door – which was damaged from the collision – off the car to reach the driver. Four total DC FEMS vehicles arrived to provide support after the incident, and a Metropolitan Police Department vehicle arrived to help the clean-up process about an hour later.
Traffic in the area did not face severe delays. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by 1 p.m.
