Regardless of whether or not you’re in the District this end of December, we have you covered with several events to enjoy both from the comfort of your own home and around the D.C. area. Tune in to a New Years Eve TV special hosted by Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidson on Friday, admire an outdoor light installation in Navy Yard on Saturday and watch a virtual comedy show on Sunday to welcome 2022.

Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party Hosted by Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidson
Whether or not your New Year’s Eve plans were canceled due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, celebrate the new year virtually with Miley Cyrus and Saturday Night Live’s Pete Davidson. The pair are set to co-host a New Year’s special from Miami, Fla., which will air live on NBC from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. EST Friday. The event will feature performances from a lineup of musicians, including Brandi Carlile, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Saweetie, Anitta, Jack Harlow, 24kGoldn and Kitty Ca$h, along with other guests throughout the night.

Light Yards on the Sun Deck
Stroll through a stunning light installation, created by Australian-based light design sculptors Amigo & Amigo, to make your first night of the new year memorable. The experience, featuring 22-foot-tall trees illuminated with a variety of intricate patterns, can be accessed for free from 6 to 10 p.m. The installation is located on the Sundeck in the middle of Yards Park in Navy Yard, which houses more than 20 eateries like Chloe, an internationally-inspired, eclectic restaurant, and Kruba Thai and Sushi, to eat at after the immersive experience.

Nowhere Comedy Show with Ben Gleib
Take a break after the new year festivities with an evening full of laughs. Comedian Ben Gleib, along with a host and special guest, are set to take part in Nowhere Comedy’s “Gleib off the Top – Crowd Work & Improvised Madness with Ben Gleib.” The comedy show will take place over Zoom, but participants will be asked not to mute their microphones to add to the engaging improvisational experience. The comedy show will raise your spirits in preparation for the new year.
